I Love Mountains

Dear Joe,

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) has proposed a Consent Order with Freedom Industries, the company responsible for the chemical spill discovered onJanuary 9th that contaminated the drinking water of more than 300,000 West Virginians.

Unfortunately, the Consent Order only goes so far as to outline deadlines for the removal of chemicals and storage tanks from Freedom Industries’ Elk River sites, and asks that the company complies with existing laws. The order contains NO monetary penalty.

The protection of clean drinking water and the health of West Virginia’s citizens must come before the interests of corporations.

West Virginia’s drinking water is too important to sacrifice. Please take action today, the deadline for public comment on the Consent Order is March 1st.

For the Mountains,
Matt Wasson
